Folks on Dreamwidth have picked up the idea of listing a couple of people each week who they think are fascinating and/or worth following for some reason (people or communities...) I like this idea, so:
I think I came across
damned_colonial during one of the early discussions about Dreamwidth, but I started reading her posts regularly when she did a keynote presentation about women in open source where she used Dreamwidth as an example. She's started the Geek Wiki, and also a blog I've since been following avidly about the intersection between feminism and geekery of various kinds. If you like my process posts about how to make things work better, a lot of her writing hits that same button in me.
And for another 'how to make things better',
accessibility_fail is a community devoted to documenting and talking about accessibility failures. One of the things I love about it is people coming in and saying "Hey, I don't have this accessibility problem, but I noticed it, and is there anything I should make a point of when I follow up and make noise about it?" where they'll describe the set-up and the stuff they've spotted, but realise they might be missing other bits. The school I work for is responding to prodding about accessibility issues, so I also find it really helpful in brightly saying things like "If you do X, it'll help people who need help with A. But if you do option Y instead, it'll help people who need A *or* B *or* C." when I hear about new stuff going on.
