Overall, not as good as I'd like: had my second migraine in 10 days yesterday. (Left work at 2:15, was in bed with the lights off attempting to ignore the sun through the windows at 5:30, woke up at 9:45 with a splitting headache, was up another 90 minutes making that go away enough I could sleep, slept til 5:30, when the alarm went off.)
Two in 10 days is really Not So Good, though I have hope that as the new tea blend kicks in, it'll help. (The weather is also so not helping, and I'm hoping that as that settles down, it'll improve. Also, I have two days this weekend in which absolutely nothing is planned, and if I end up sleeping and being mindless for all of it because that's what I need, well, okay, I'll do that.)
On the plus side, however, I had a lovely thing in the mail yesterday. As I mentioned, I had requested another Balance Card from
haikujaguar in her May One Card Draw reading.
I'd asked: The last two weeks feel like the beginning of a wonderful new spring in my life. I want to make the most of it. What card wants to talk to me about that?
And her answer delighted me:
How about the Martyr? No, this is... well, sounds crazy I know, but a happy Martyr. Dressed in pale green and white, pulling the hood down around her head and... she's got flowers in her hair.
I think she's on vacation. Maybe you should let her stay there. :)
Because, yes, well.
So I commissioned the card, which was my mail yesterday.

Balance Card - The Martyr
Is that not lovely? It is now mounted and set on my altar alongside my card from *last* spring, the Priest:

Balance Cards - The Priest
My reading for The Priest was as follows:
There is a priest in the high marble tower, in the uppermost room near the conical roof. He has been engaged in reading an illuminated book, a thing of beauty full of wisdom... but outside, spring has warmed the air and the mystery of distant birdsong has led him to reach for the casement... to open the windows and look out at the world. He has been deep in his studies for so long, for the winter was long... but there seems to be a pattern in the new leaves on the trees at the foot of the tower, a pattern that suggests another wisdom.
Perhaps he has been seeking to find that wisdom for too long in himself, or in study, or in dreams. It seems so elusive, and yet surely he knows the shape of the answer, because it is the answer to all his questions, and was that not why he withdrew to his contemplations in the first place?
But the world does not answer the questions you ask. It answers the questions you didn't know you needed to know the answers to.
Your card is the Priest, jenett. If you're missing something, it may be that you're not supposed to be missing anything. Stop searching, go out into the world, and you will lose the importance of your question in the answers you never knew you needed.
Between the two of them, I think they're a very good balance and reminder in my life, and I'm working on figuring out how to do those things. And in the meantime, a vacation sounds increasingly important.
