Topic of the week
Brought to you by some comment discussion in my journal: what stuff did you do in a former part of your life that might not be known to people who know you now? What do you miss about that?

What I've been up to:
I am up to the early Capaldi episodes in my grand Doctor Who rewatch, which means I can see the end of the tunnel!

Also, this seems a handy time to remind people that I have a fortnightly newsletter (and the most recent one that went out on Wednesday has a couple of particularly cool and handy links)

House rules:
This is a public post, feel free to encourage other people to drop by, just note the 'if posting anonymously, include a name people can call you in responses' rule.

* Consider this a conversation in my living room, only with a lot more seating. I reserve the right to redirect, screen, and otherwise moderate stuff, but would vastly prefer not to have to.

* If you don't have a DW account or want to post anonymously, please include a name we can call you in this particular post. (You can say AnonymousOne or your favourite colour or whatever. Just something to help keep conversations clear.)

* If you've got a question or concern, feel free to PM me.

One would think, with as often as I have moved, I would freak less about it!

Capaldi might be my very favorite Doctor. I hope you enjoy. Solenoid the scripts are dire but he's always wonderful.

I used to be a floating receptionist at a nonprofit disability-related organization, before said organization went belly-up. One of the guys who worked in the national office went to school with me. Actually he and I were in the same Spanish class back in eighth grade and became good buddies. Then we drifted away from each other for several years. His father taught at the high school I attended, but I didn't know it at the time. Actually the funny thing is that I knew 2 people with the same last name, who were unrelated. The other guy's uncle drove the bus on which I rode to and from junior high. But anyway, I was grandfathered into the afore-mentioned organization by my friend, the one whose father taught at our high school. I had an absolute blast working in their national office. Everyone was so much fun and they included me in everything they did, even lunch meetings. I was sorry to see the organization fold.

I also transcribed a book about a late friend of the family who was a Holocaust survivor. Actually his eldest son and I first met in the gym locker room in 8th grade, and became good friends. But anyway, I've pretty much always had computer jobs and that is partly why I am so inept with them.

You wouldn't know it because my math skills were forcibly clawed out of my brain in my senior year of high school but I used to do competitive math/science events in high school. I used to like math and programming a lot and I miss being able to trust equations. XD

I also used to sub as a Magic: the Gathering judge at Friday Night Magic. XD

My previous parts of existence don't always seem that interesting, because it's been schooling and then work. I do miss doing some officiating for sports leagues, which I did before I had a 9-6 job that doesn't really make it possible to do any more. It does also mean missing out on some of the running about that I got to do in relation to those bits.
