[livejournal.com profile] cjsherwood sent me flowers! They are lovely! (Three whie roses, a slection of dark reddish-purple things that I don't know the name of, and intereting greenery.)

Eeeee!

(And this way, they can spend today and tomorrow here, and then come home for ritual and the weekend.)

Hooray! They arrived! Good to know that the timing was good, too. You can remember them while in the DH party; that should make it easier to smile!

Concerned, a bit, about the "dark reddish-purple things" because I was quite specific about the kinds of flowers I wanted, and then trusted them for filler, and I'm guessing you'd recognize whatever I wanted (especially since "dark reddish-purple" was not something I specified, unless they sent you a FABULOUS iris color). Glad the greenery is interesting... I literally said I wanted "interesting greens".

:-)

Don't suppose you've got a way to snap a picture and send it to me?

Right... as I said, I'm guessing you'd know what you were looking at. I don't do exotics... and I'd asked for either iris or Gerbers, both of which are easily identifiable.

I'm glad they are garnering compliments... but I'm concerned, given how very specific I was about what I wanted, that they didn't call me to say "We don't have x or y (or x isn't looking that great today, or whatever); what may we substitute?"

Still, they are giving you joy, and that's what matters, not my anal-retentive detail-oriented nature!!!

*laughs at your edit*

When the flower was first introduced, it was called a "Gerber Daisy". I'm guessing it's because it was named after whomever made them long-lasting and so on. At some point, the flower industry changed the name and the flower is now known as a Gerbera.

I still, obviously, call them Gerbers.

Of course I also still call what I am told is "Baker's Fern" (or is that Bakers' Fern? Never seen it spelled out) "Leatherleaf". Given that I can't STAND the stuff, it's critical that I know the current name for it. I actually had on one profile at a florist, NO Leatherleaf and NO Baby's Breath. Imagine my furiousity when I walked into Momma's house to see an arrangement I'd sent her from said florist which contained BOTH of them! I called the florist fuming, and they said "We don't know what leatherleaf is..." I was not at all pleased, and they no longer get my business.

(I am pleased to note, for the record, that when I told YOUR florist "No Leatherleaf or Baker's Fern or whatever you want to call it, and no Baby's Breath", he replied, "Oh, we don't stock either of those!!")

So glad they are lovely.

:-)
