(As you might guess, I did in fact decide to make use of the B&B's wireless.)

I left home a little later than I intended, but only about 20 minutes (after cleaning out the car substantially, yay.) I had about a 2 and a quarter hour drive up here, listening most of the way to Minnesota Public Radio, but switching over to mix-CD the last hour or so. (I'll post the track list at some point.)

I found my way to the Lake Superior Zoo, which is small, and which was *very* quiet (I did not have to share windows looking at animals with anyone.) However, they have three different bear subspecies, which makes me happy (polar, grizzly, and kodiak) This was particularly handy because I keep trying to track down what animal it is that keeps showing up in my dreams (though not very recently), and I think it really is a bear, having had a chance to look at these relatively up close. (And specifically, a grizzly: the only bears I'd been able to see up close since this started were Kodiaks, and they've got just enough differences, especially in size-of-bone that I couldn't figure out whether we were talking bear or bear-ish).

I then came down to Lake Ave in Duluth and puttered around various stores after a late lunch, before turning up at the B&B at 4pm. I am now comfortably ensconced on the couch with a throw rug over me and a gas fireplace making it cozy. Once I finish a few more online things, I am going to go revel in the massage tub. (One thing they fail to mention in the B&B site is that they've been very clever about where they place electrical outlets. I approve.)

Have the snows melted sufficiently for you to spy the shiny (tho bumpy) Jasper and agate beaches?

I love the wide ranges of temperatures one can feel at this time of the year by the falls. The sun trapped in the bushes is warm, the breeze rushing by the water is colder-than-one-can-imagine, and the air is full of rot and growth! (The last of our snow-sand concrete melted today at our shadiest corner.)
