Today looked like this:
- arrive at 7am. Dig through my inbox (which is now in files and folders that say things like "To file in X" and other more useful categories than a large pile.
- 9am: teach most of our English faculty about turnitin.com . Which mostly goes smoothly. (Some of them had used it before, including one of our faculty who I drafted for subject-specific uses.)
- 10am: more paperwork. Help minion with a few things, then wander down to have our photos taken. More paperwork. Enter meetings with division head on both calendars.
- 11:40 : wander down to courtyard for next item. Play foursquare (school courtyard game of choice, and which I have not played since elementary school) with other faculty while waiting. (I did not totally disgrace myself.)
- 11:45am: full staff photo in courtyard.
- Lunch, over which I have discussion with co-advisor for newspaper. We now have a game plan for our first week.
- Go up to office around 12:30 to do more paperwork. (There is a theme to the day)
- 1pm: Have all-faculty meeting, which is always a secret community bonding event. This year, our "On the Myers-Briggs scale I answer not one question as an introvert" division head recognises his propensities, and has come up with two much lower-key events: a scavenger hunt in the sculpture garden, or a lesiurely walking tour of Loring Park and the local neighborhood. I opt for the latter, which is very pleasant, though I ducked out of the last segment, as my allergies were starting to gripe at me.
- Putter around the social hour afterwards, and help minion put up some more signs for books (now readable from across the library). Wander off with most of a bottle of red wine that was not drunk. (this is handy because I was planning on having a glass of alcohol tonight, and it means I don't have to open a bottle at home.)
- Go by Seward, acquiring the makings for this week's cookies, which I will have to make on Wednesday. Am now tired and achy and .. yeah. Tired.
