Well. Efficient cat.

I came home from a very nice dinner party to discover a much troubled small field mouse on the rug inside my house. And a cat who had obviously batted it around into submission, but was not sure what to do with it next.

(I've had one of these before: this time she was apparently more efficent, as it was less mobile.)

I made use of beaten up tupperware, scooped it gently into container, deposited it outside on the grass well away from people's lawns, and left it there, throwing the tupperware out on the way back. The cat is now sniffing the front room rug and looking around in the way that small domesticated predators do just in case they're needed again.

I expect it got in at some point via the front porch, since the house proper is fairly well sealed up from gaps, but I will keep an eye out.
