Hello! For the US folks who do Thanksgiving, I hope you had a good one. For everyone, I hope it's a fabulous Friday.

Reminders and tips for making this post flow better )

Topic of the week
I asked about this under lock about listening to music in research spaces (we had a researcher at work this week who loaded a YouTube playlist on the desktop we have for researchers.)

But now I'm curious about how you listen to stuff. Do you set up specific playlists (that you control?)

Do you listen to material selected by an algorithm (like a Pandora playlist that starts with a particular artist and spreads out from there?) Or something like Spotify's daily lists, that pick things like music you've listened to recently?

Do you listen to other sounds? (Someone on the poll mentioned MyNoise, which I also use periodically, which has a wide range of sounds running from environmental and white noise to some auto generated things with melodies that I find very refreshing when I want background noise but music is too unpredictable for my concentration.)

What I've been up to
Hired an assistant at work (she's not starting until January), had a short week due to Thanksgiving, spent a pleasant time having food with friends.

(My parents are British and raised in the UK respectively, so Thanksgiving is a holiday I do not have particular traditions for, and basically I go where people invite me to have nice food if they do, and stay home and enjoy a day off if they don't.)
