The end of school year schedule always throws me for a loop. Monday, I got to work at 6:45 in the morning, worked until 3:45, went off for a meeting at the 4th Street hotel with Elise, came back, and went to senior program night (where seniors present the things they've been working on/trips they've taken/etc. that were their senior program for the last 3 weeks.)

Highlights:
- Excellent meeting with the hotel, and I'm excited about our brunch options. More info coming soon. (They need to write up pricing choices and some other details, but we're pretty excited about what we think will work. One of the things we'll be doing is getting info out about their specials and other options, including some late-night options for snacks and such.)

- Senior program night was cool. Highlight of *my* evening was watching one of my inherited homeroom advisees talk about the trip he took for 2 weeks to Costa Rica. This is a kid who as a 9th grader was incredibly shy, and used to meet his sister after her classes (she's 2 years older) because he didn't have anywhere else to be. In the last couple of years, he's built some friendships, and he's now outgoing enough that he was casually talking about meeting up with random other hikers in Costa Rica for the day just because they happened to be going the same direction - and having a great time.

This kind of thing? One of the things that makes working in education so incredibly worthwhile.

I want to come back to it and talk more about this, but in the meantime, sticking the link out here for discussion. (Don't worry, totally worksafe: it's about sharing information.)
