I keep looking at those and wishing they fit something I needed. (Because the Oberon designs are *gorgeous* - I had one of the blank book covers a while back.) But I use a keyboard case with the iPad, and I want the phone always out (and don't want to add more bulk to my pocket carrying, so it has a "if I drop it, it will likely not break the phone" case, but nothing that covers the screen.)
On the money bit: I made a decision when I moved to Maine to get things that made me *happy* to have and to use. Things that were well designed. (And where, as much as possible, they were made by people who got something like a living wage, and out of sustainable materials, and so on. Which I am not perfect about, but try for.)
It seems to be working a lot better for me than "buy this because I need something now."
