Iceland really does want to be your friend! Especially if you'll help out a friend in need and offer assistance with the unfortunate economic situation... ^_^
I've been there, once. We had a refuelling stop at Keflavik enroute to Kuwait. Unfortunately, Keflavik is in a geologically recent part of Iceland, and the local terrain is pretty much limited to grass and igneous rocks with lichen. Saw none of the pretty parts.
ON the other hand, the National Geographic/Lindblad cruises at one time included a crise that wen from Bergen Norway to Shetland, Orkney, the Faeroes, and then around the north coast of Iceland to Reikjavik. That would have been fun.
