Thanks for this informative article. I really want to become a librarian/archivist, and have been accepted into a couple of fairly pricey private schools, and am currently trying to decide on whether to defer for a year, or go ahead taking out a ton of loans. Ideally, I would love to go on, and get my doctorate in library science, then come back to my home state, and convince the adminstration there to start a library science program with the state university. My primary interest is how to help people find information in the quickest way possible, although with my history background, preserving history for future generations is also one of my passions. But yeah, it's made me do some serious, common sense, thinking for my plans for next fall...
