I wish more people were aware of what is actually good for their bodies and what they needed to do to be as healthy as their body will let them be. I'll admit that I fall into the "omg - I have /got/ to lose weight trap" fairly frequently.
I'm working in the Fashion district at the moment and it is killing my self-esteem walking past all the thin, well-dressed, beautifully made-up people. bardicstorm as rightfully pointed out that I have gotten to the point where I only notice the young & thin when we are walking around and not the fact that more people look like me than look like them.
And the worst part of the cycle is that I am maybe only 10 pounds over where the doctor would like me to be for my frame. But I've completely bought into the self-hatred. Yes, I do need to exercise as I am out of shape and need toning and strengthening - but mostly I need to remember that I am loved and reasonably healthy the way I am. Not an easy lesson it seems.
