New stone acquisition

One of the things I acquired at Minicon (well, one of two, the other of which is a present) was a pendant - it's made from variscite, which is a stone I wasn't previously familiar with. Did my research this morning, and I'm not surprised I found it intriguing.

It's a phosphate mineral (relatively rare: occurs in Utah, Germany, Australia, and Brazil) that looks a bit like the greener forms of turquoise. It's often seen with veins of crandalite

Folk and crystal lore from various source says:
- it helps balance the central nervous system
- eases worry, anxiety, stress, etc.
- all about encouragement.
- self-reliance, success, and brings abundance.
- soothing, calming, and healing for both body and mind.
- truthfulness and authenticity.
- perception and spiritual awareness.

Well, okay, then. I can see why I picked it up. (Also, it's very pretty: greenish-turquoise with pale sandy-goldish-yellow veining, which is probably crandalite.)

(I'd argue that the last two are possible offshoots of the 'calming' and 'encouraging' stuff, personally. I should also note that while I'm intrigued by stone meanings, I don't take them as the last word or anything. Bought this 'cause it's pretty, more than anything, and it wanted to come home with me.)
