That's a really good point, and it's part of why I think the book is very unsatisfying as a book to many people.

(And I think, weirdly, it might be why it's gotten good reviews from mainstream sources, because it's a particular kind of approach to the new in the current era that we see in politics, in style magazines and TV, in a bunch of other mainstream media. Being just different enough to be different, without actually being challenging about it.)
