Coming in late, but thanks for this! I think about being a librarian off and on (usually as a refuge, when some other part of my career isn't going well). You've given me lots of questions to answer for myself if I ever want to take those idle thoughts more seriously. (Step #1 is Find Some Job In An Actual Library. It may be difficult, but it's better than trying to go to library school and THEN thinking about jobs etc.)
